Two farms in Cajamarca

Coffee farms in the Andean highlands
Coffee farms in the Andean highlands

Our Espresso Blend starts in the northern Andes of Peru, in the region of Cajamarca, on two small farms.

Naranjoyacu, Cutervo

The Guevara Quispe family farms in the hamlet of Naranjoyacu, in the district of Santo Domingo de la Capilla, Cutervo, at 1,800 metres. They grow Typica, and their coffee is washed.

On the cupping table it scored 86 points on the specialty scale. The lab noted a fragrance of spice, light orange and sugar cane; a flavour of chocolate and sweetness; a sweet acidity; a creamy body; and a finish of panela.

San José de Lourdes

Heber Díaz grows Caturra and Bourbon in San José de Lourdes, also in Cajamarca, at 1,750 metres. His washed coffee also scored 86: cane, hints of citrus, chocolate and red fruit in the fragrance, a sweet and fruity cup, and a creamy body.

Two farms, one blend: chocolate and sweetness from Cutervo, fruit and brightness from San José de Lourdes.

Why we name them

Most coffee leaves its country without a name. We would rather you knew who grew yours, where, and how high up the mountain.
